LEARNING EXPERIENCE:

This entertaining activity will not only help your little one develop their fine motor skills, coordination of hand movements and creativity, but is also an excellent activity for stimulating their imagination and passion for literature and language.

Before starting the adventure of telling a story, your little one must create their own character.  Gather all the materials you will need and place them on a work table suitable for your little one.

Let’s get to it! Tell your little one with a lot of excitement that they must make a paper dragon who will come to visit them to tell them a story, but to show up, he needs your little one to help him exist.

Explain step by step how to make a paper dragon. Only help your little one if you can see he or she is is having trouble. Otherwise, always allow them to try it without help. Follow these steps:

  • Cover the toilet paper tube with green paper. Use the glue to stick the paper to the cardboard.
  • Glue the two green cotton balls to one end and put the eyes on top. Now the dragon can see!
  • At the other end of the tube, but on the same side, glue the 2 small cotton balls. Now the dragon can smell!
  • Glue the strips of orange, yellow, and red paper at the inside and outside the tube at the same edge of the dragon as the nose.  Now the dragon can breathe fire!

Now you’ve got your dragon! Let the adventure begin!

Remind your little one that now, thanks to their great work, the dragon is here and is ready to be part of a great story. Ask your little one with a lot of excitement to tell you a story using the dragon. If you see that he or she is finding it difficult, you can help with getting started, and then let your little one continue.

If your little one needs a little more help, you can ask questions like, who is that dragon? Where does it come from? What are you going to do with the dragon?

Have fun!
